Focusing on the word "hidden" in our memory verse, we learned that it is not the kind of hidden where others are not meant to find something. It is hidden in the sense that others can not take it away from us - like a treasure we want to hold on to and not lose. Some special items the kids shared that they do not want to lose are a toy cheetah and parents. The hiding away in our heart is like an engraving or carving on our heart. We passed around an engraved sign that had varying depths of engraving and agreed we wanted God and His Word to be deeply engraved like the word "Lord" on the sign. No one can steal God or His Word out of my heart - they go where I go. We remembered how Jesus used Bible verses when He was tempted by Satan in the dessert. We also talked about the Sword from the Armor of God, how it represents God's Word, and how we can use God's Word to cut up lies contrary to the Bible. We practiced sharing what a lie might look like and what the Bible says is true, exposing the lie. These kids really understand that keeping Bible stories and verses deep in their hearts will make them ready for use whenever needed to fight temptation, remind them of Jesus' love for them, and encourage others the same way when they need it.
