What is different about the Shield of Faith from other parts of God's armor? The kids practiced blocking crumpled paper thrown at them using different sized paper plates or napkins as a shield. (SO MUCH FUN!) The difference? The shield isn’t strapped to the body. It can move in the direction the arrows are coming from. Like the plates, the shield of faith moves to cover our doubts, hurts, and struggles. The different sized plates and napkins represent the varying amounts and strength of faith people have. When we take up the Shield of Faith - no matter the size or strength - we are wise to take it up in cooperation with God's strength and not on our strength alone. We can ask the Lord for more faith to stand strong against hurtful or challenging things. The kids shared ideas of fiery darts that create doubts, hurts or struggles they either experienced or saw others experience. Their thoughts on faith included knowing and putting trust in God's love and promises - much like they do with their parents! How? By reminding themselves how much Jesus loves them and cares for them! Memory verses help! These amazing kids are choosing to trust God in everything. Even if we sin or doubt God, He is still with us - loving us through it – again, like our parents! Believing He will never leave us and will love us through all things is like picking up our Shield of Faith. God is doing, and will continue to do, amazing things in and through these kids! What a privilege it is to serve them for His Glory! We made shields!
